Condom Safety
Which Lubes for What
Coconut oil is amazing for everything from cooking, keto, coffee, and massages but this and several other lubricants are NOT safe to use with latex condoms.
Latex Condoms – don’t use oil-based lubricants such as petroleum jelly, baby oil, mineral oil, olive oil, coconut oil, and other cooking oils, whipped cream, cold cream, sunscreens, moisturizers, or lotions. They can weaken a latex condom and might cause it to break. Water-based lubricants are the safest choice.
Non-Latex Condoms – like polyurethane then it’s safe to use oil-based, water-based, or silicone-based lubricants. While silicone-based lubricants can last longer than water-based lubricants and are great for water play, they can be irritating for people with sensitive skin and they damage silicone sex toys.
So be sure to use the appropriate lubrication with the appropriate condom and activity!
